Syosset Common

Syosset Common proposes a network of elevated gardens to reconnect the village and the surrounding woodland.

The town, located at a busy crossroads, has been overwhelmed by commuter parking. In the proposed design, parking flows at ground level under a new pedestrian and commerce level with a framework for temporary and permanent shops. A higher level is devoted to gardens, bridging across the train tracks that divide the town, reestablishing the private estate gardens of the town’s past as a commons for the village.
